The effect of elastic post-effect of resistance to rolling by spindle bearings and freewheeling roller mechanisms

The elastic post-effect of the material of cylindrical specimens is analyzed when they article loaded axisymmetrically and how it adds to the resistance to rolling. The choice of a material for the spindle of the precision lathe is dictated by the fact that the strain due to the elastic post-effect is comparable to the geometrical error in high-precision bearings. It is discussed how the magnitude of the elastic post-effect affects the coefficient of hysteresis losses. The effect of the magnitude of the elastic post-effect on the friction coefficient of the freewheeling mechanism is analyzed.
