A method is proposed how to estimate the service life of a cylindrical straight tooth gear. The calculation model makes allowance or pressure variations along the area of contact of teeth following the ellipse law providing the worn surface profile changes smoothly, as a result the evolvent radius in the calculated point of the profile and the curvature radius of the tooth surface have little difference. Consideration of these factors enables to verify the calculated service life of the tooth gear.
