Airtraq-DL versus the McCoy laryngoscope and further aids to intubation to place a double lumen tube in a difficult intubation model using experienced anaesthetists

Both the Airtraq and the McCoy laryngoscope have been shown to be of use in the trauma setting [1, 2]. The Airtraq-DL was developed as a modification to allow placement of a double-lumen tracheal tube, and is a useful adjunct [3]. However, it has not been tested against an alternative designed blade. The McCoy levering laryngoscope is an example of an alternative blade that many experienced anaesthetists would use in a trauma scenarios where movement of the neck is restricted.
