Brazilian pig iron prices slip twice on soft steel demand

Prices for Brazilian merchant pig iron exported to the United States have fallen twice on low demand, several sources said. "We first sold one 35,000-tonne cargo for $534 per tonne c.f.r. (New Orleans) and, in the past few days, we concluded the sale of 70,000 tonnes for $530 per tonne," a source at a major pig iron producer in Brazil's northern region of Cara-jas told AMM sister publication Metal Bulletin.
