Process for production of rust-free steel of the ferritic AlSi 4xx steel group based on molten pig iron and FeCr-Fe solids involving:(1) pre-treatment of the pig iron in a blast furnace, DDD treatment of the pig iron and coating of an AOD ( argon/oxygen decarburization) converter with slag-free molten pig iron, (2) heating improvement/alloying and reduction of the molten pig iron in an AOD converter, (3) heating of the pig iron following DDD-treatment of the pig iron added to the AOD converter via Si oxidation by means of external FeSi addition, (4) setting of an appropriate oxygen blast rate and, (5) setting of the slag basicity, and slag removal.
