On historiography of Russian zoology

摘要

A concise review of the main directions in and most important editions on historiography of Russian zoology ranging from specialized papers to bibliographic dictionaries for biologists is given. Russian literature and researchers, predominantly at the first stages of Russian zoology, are considered. Significance of historiography of zoology both for history of science and zoology per se is demonstrated. The correlation between problems of bibliography and biographical investigations is shown. The importance of archives, the archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences in particular, and development of the history of some Russian zoological institutions is emphasized.
