Metrical comparison of English newspapers in Singapore with other English journalism

English is used throughout the world, and it has gained in importance more and more in Asian countries. In this study, we analyzed English newspapers in Singapore and TIME magazine, which is assumed to be a representative of American journalism; published in 1950 and 2000, focusing on "prepositions," "relatives," "auxiliary verbs," and "personal pronouns." An exponential function with two coefficients b and c was used to extract some features of each part of speech-appearance. It was clearly shown that the values of b and C vary from country to country. Moreover, the moving range of each part of speech from 1950 to 2000 was calculated using the three most frequently used words as parameters. As a result, the value of the moving range for TIME is lower in three parts of speech except for "personal pronouns."
