BENCHMARKING cattle performance and financial indicators are almost second nature to feedlot managers. But, how often do they step back, benchmark, and consider the value of human resources to the feedlot business? Perhaps the industry needs to thinkof its staff as important partners of the business, who implement productivity gains, quality assurance improvements, and increase margins for the business through best management practices. Really, people are a knowledge asset, and need to be valued and cultivated to enhance the profitability of a business.
