THE grain-feeding sector has experienced a range of circumstances in the past 12 months which have influenced numbers of cattle on feed across the country. The influence of drought-breaking rains across southern Australia late last year, dry weather in northern NSW and southern Queensland during summer, the collapse of the Indonesian live trade earlier this year, a volatile Australian dollar and the political uncertainty around issues such as climate change policy and genuine tax reform are but justa few notable items that have contributed to our recent destiny.
