Existing schemes of joining ingots of the first remelting into a monolithic consumable billet for the second remelting in a vacuum arc furnace, i.e. out of furnace welding with tungsten electrode and furnace welding, are analyzed. Advantages and drawbacks of each technological process are given. Scheme of the installation and technology of electron beam welding of ingots of the first remelting of 100 and 220 mm diameters, produced, respectively, by plasma-arc and induction melting in a sectional mould are described. High quality of welds and prospects of application of the method of electron beam welding of ingots of the first remelting into a monolithic billet are outlined.
