If shift work and night work were to contribute to cancer development, we certainly would want to know. Background to and incentives for respective studies have been provided by the International Agency for Research on Cancer's 2007 classification of shift work involving circadian disruption as being probably carcinogenic to humans (1). Interestingly, Pronk et al. (2) investigated this question with a diligent, large, and, in terms of risk results, "negative" or "neutral" study.
