Morphological and physicochemical properties were compared in background and human-affected soils (podburs of mountain tundra, brown acid raw-humus soils of mountain forest-Dystric Cambisols and alluvial soils-Fluvisols) of the Northern Urals and the Cisural hills, Russia. The degree of soil degradation along a gas pipe-line and the potential regeneration capacity of soils were estimated. The evolution of transformed soils is shown.
