摘要

Four moose from eastern and northeastern Siberia were found to have a chromosome complement of 2n = 70, the same as North American moose. The chromosome complement of moose from Scandinavia, Finland, the Volga region of Russia and western Siberia has been reported as 2n = 68. The existence of 2 groups of moose with a different number of chromosomes is in accordance with data published on morphology, biochemical polymorphism, vocalization and feeding preferences. The 2 groups can be considered as different species.
