摘要

For circularly polarized dielectric resonator antennas (CP-DRA), studies have been made on a single feed structure because of its simple composition. Among the various shapes of DRA, rectangular parallelepiped DRA is probably the simplest one, but the condition producing circular polarization is not yet clarified. This paper deals with the design technique of a rectangular parallelepiped CP-DRA with a single probe feed located outside of the dielectric. The design procedure consists of two steps. In the first step, we apply the conventional design technique of the circularly polarized microstrip antennas to CP-DRA. In the second step, we analyze the structure including the excitation parts by the modal polarization current model method (M-PCMM) repeatedly, and decided the optimum structural parameters with best circular polarization and impedance matching characteristics. It has been shown that M-PCMM is effective in the second step of design.
