Although he had no idea that the day was coming when his world would fall out from under him, James Henderson was unknowingly making preparations for that day long before it actually happened.The bees have saved my life, emotionally and career-wise," he says today. Henderson first became interested in honey bees about 5 years before the fateful day. He noticed the wild bees visiting flowers in the back yard of the home he owned in Baton Rouge, LA. "1 learned a lot about bees by reading books, American Bee Journal and Bee Culture and purchased my first two Italian colonies in 2004. I joined the Capital Area Beekeepers Association in Baton Rouge and the Louisana State Beekeepers Association,and my colony numbers grew."
