摘要

Kentucky beekeeper John Benham of Smiths Grove (pop. 717), spent his childhood years growing up near Henderson in northwestern Kentucky. His family home was located about 100 yards from the Ohio River a few miles south of Evansville, Indiana. It was along the river bottoms of both the Ohio and the adjacent Green River that he spent many adventure-filled youthful days exploring and trekking. It was also along these river bottoms that he spotted his first feral colony, which peaked his lifelong interest in entomology which never waned as he aged. However, he didn't pursue a career of studying bugs, but instead a desire for flying airplanes prevailed.
