摘要

The risk and the exposure of chemical substances have traditional1y been evaluated solely using obsertion data However this would require tremendous expenseand labor if many substances are to be evaluated over a large area To solve this problem,we developed software to calculate atmospheric concentrations of chemical substances using emission amount and meteorological data The ofrcialname of this software is the National Institute of AdvancedIndustrial science and Technology -Atmospheric Dispersion Mode1 for Exposure and Risk Assessm ent(AIST-AD ME R). The AIST-ADMER drastically increased the number of areas and substances that could be evaluated and made it possible to quantitatively evaluate the sources of high concentrations and associated high health risks.At the same time,it allowed for analyses induspensable to socioeconomicevaluationssuchastheestimationofnewsubstances whoseobservationdataarenotavailableaswellastheextrapolationof estimates both into the future and into the past.
