Case study: mobile computing at Tokyo branch office of Toshiba corporation

In order to improve the business efficiency and productivity of the Sales Department using the latest information technologies, a Libretto mobile computer was supplied on a trial basis to all sales personnel at the Tokyo Branch Office of ToshibaCorporation in July 1997, and these personnel began using mobile computing for their work in October. The objectives of this revolution in working style by mobile computing are to bring the personnel into close and frequent contact with customers byallowing them to use any location for office work, and to shorten commuting time. This will also give more free time to the personnel.
