A new recuperator has been developed to improve gas turbine efficiency based on the plate-fin typeto satisfy the requirements for increased capacity of heat exchangers with compact dimensions aswell as wide applicability. The sectional prototype of the plate-fin type heat exchanger has been builtfor the LM2500 gas turbine system. Heat transfer and pressure drop performance achieved the designrequirements, and effectiveness of heat exchanger was 85%. Transient tests are now beingconducted to demonstrate thermal shock cycles by simulating the start and stop of the LM2500 gasturbine. Very little air leakage and durability have been confirmed at 1 500 cycles. Evaluation tests ondurability are now continuing.
