Production of optically pure L-alanine in batch and continuous stirred tank reactors using immobilized pseudomonas sp.

A process to botain optically pure L-alanine has been developed using batch and continuous stirred tank reactors with a new L-aminoacylase-producing bacterium Pseudomonas sp.BA2 immobilized in calcium alginate beads coated with glutaraldehyde.The maximum production of L-alanine in a continuous stirred tank reactor was 11.26 g after 2 days of operation which is higher than that previously reported.
