摘要

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a worldwide public health concern, with its incidence and prevalence increasing. Patients with CKD are at risk of increased morbidity and mortality, and CKD consequently has a significant impact on public health expenditure. Achieving meaningful risk reductions in patients with advanced CKD has proved to be difficult. However, there is sufficient evidence to show that strategies to delay the progression of kidney disease or prevent the onset of poor outcomes are effective. It therefore is apparent that early detection and management of CKD is of relevance and importance. However, the early recognition of CKD is challenging, not least of which is due to its asymptomatic nature.
