Deterioration mechanism of blue phosphor for color plasma displays

摘要

(Ba, Eu)O·MgO·Al{sub}2O{sub}3 (BAM) of hexaaluminate, as a blue phosphor of color plasma displays, is investigated on its luminance and deterioration properties. It is well resistant to thermal treatment with composition of Al/(Ba+Eu)=l0, however, compositions of Al/(Ba+Eu) over 10 are more resistant to the deterioration of vacuum ultraviolet ray irradiation. It is suggested that both of the deterioration are concerning to crystal structure and defects of the BAM.
