The People's 'Royal Court of Roses'

An early 1980s search for a public path to the shore on Rumstick Point in Barrington, RI lead to a remarkable discovery. We never made it to the beach, but we did see a sign saying "Llys yr Rhosyn Gardens, All Visitors Welcome" in front of a large rose garden. At the time, my husband Ed and I were living in an apartment, and, while we grew vegetables, we had no interest in roses. Despite that, I'll never forget some of the roses I saw that day.
