摘要

"Few of us go through life without occasionally daydreaming about starting a different, less stressful, more rewarding carrer." Almost everyone experiences moments when the roses seem redder and the grass seems greener on the other side of the fence. Few of us go through life without occasionally daydreaming about starting a different, less stressful, more rewarding career. A half dozen years ago I had the opportunity to retire from my first career as a forester and start planning the second. My initial impulse was to try to objectively analyze and make a businesslike study of my second career options - I wanted to do something that involved working with people and plants. At that time I naively thought there was no way to get paid to work with roses. I tried to look at capitalization needs, income potential and cash flow, advantages of starting my own business versus going to work for someone else, retraining, taxes, niches, marketing needs and all of the other factors one should think about.
