It's All About Decorative Art: French Scenic Wallpaper

In my January/February column,I wrote about some problems I had with wallpaper in my early days as a contractor and how those episodes led to my first successes in wallglazing.Though I was glad to see my days as a hanger pass away,wallpaper as a medium continues to interest me.A study of wallpaper design and manufacturing supplies me with obvious lessons.Wallpaper is meant to decorate with color,form and illusion on the same surfaces I endeavor to disguise with my painting techniques.Beyond insights into method,the history of wallpaper offers instruction on styles,trends,and for those like me who believe past can be prologue,possible illumination of future design trends.
