Conditions for determining silicon in cesium iodide and potassium chloride by atomic absorption spectrometry with electrothermal atomization were examined. The Measurements were performed using a Saturn spectrophotometer with a Grafit-2 atomizer. It was shown that the sensitivity of silicon determination is a maximum when graphite tubes are pretreated with a solution of zirconyl chloride and, an addition, ferric nitrate is added to the test solution as a matrix modifier. The tolerable concentrations of cesium iodide and potassium chloride in the test solution are 50 and 20 g/L, respectively. Procedures were developed for determining 3 X 10~(-5) mass % of silicon in cesium iodide and 2 X 10~(-4) mass % of silicon in potassium chloride.
