A report was published in the UK in November 2016 by The Kings Fund. It detailed recent research around digital technology and its impact on primary healthcare and was carried out by Nuffield Trust. It is very relevant to those working within health information and communications. Entitled The Digital Patient (Castle-Clarke & Imison, 2016), the paper discusses the provision of online health information and advice, patient access to their online medical record, remote or e-consultations, professional telemonitoring or online triage and videoconferencing. It also reports on the use of and mobile device applications or Apps to track symptoms and set health goals.
