Bibliotherapy: a review and perspective from Poland

摘要

Background This study investigates Polish perspective, theory, and practice of bibliotherapy.The major purpose of the study is to analyse the deep therapeutic impact of literature on the patient and provide a comprehensive characteristics of this impact in the context of art.The methods of the study include a critical analysis of bibliotherapy literature in the context of its usage in medicine, including review of the Polish journals as well as a review of the professional literature: monographs of the Polish authors about bibliotherapy, scientific studies in the field of psychology, especially psychotherapy and special education.It was concluded that bibliotherapy should be considered as an effective complementary method, which supports conventional medicine.
