Long term survival of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, complex life cycle, wide host range and its pathosysytem make the disease management strategies more complicated. Attempts were made to understand the influence of soil and weather variables on germination type of the sclerotia and development of Sclerotinia disease prediction models based on soil abiotic factors and weather variables. Hot-dry and hot-humid preconditioned sclerotia triggered myceliogenic type of germination, whereas cool-dry/humid pre-conditioned sclerotia triggered carpogenic type of sclerotia germination in S. sclerotiorum. Soil temperature at (0-15 cm depth) was the most important predictor for carpogenic type of sclerotial germination. Carpogenic type of sclerotial germination wasmore in sandy and sandy loam soil as compared to clay and clay loam soil. Soil temperature, soil temperature-moisture interaction, RH average and temperature average and RH average interactions were the most important estimators for binary logistic modelwhich was most sensitive and precise model.
