Dana Petroleum looks set to take the lead in deepwater Mauritanian exploration this year with a pair of wildcats, while Tullow Oil will use the rig for one well sandwiched between the others. It is Tullow that has long been talking up the high prospectivity in new deeper plays that remain untested by former operators, which it believes will firmly place the previous mixed results in the past.
