Tullow gets mixed Kenya messages

Tullow's mixed results onshore Kenya continue with the company still coming agonisingly close, but failing, to extend its current reserves base into a series of neighbouring basins. So far 616m bbl of 2C reserves have been uncovered in the Lokichar Basin in the Northwest of the country but Tullow is desperate to try and extend the finds into adjacent frontier basins. The latest attempt was the Kodos wildcat in Block 13T in the Kerio Basin to the Northeast which encountered hydrocarbon shows indicating the presence of an active petroleum system. But reservoirs were mixed quality alluvial sands close to the basin boundary fault. The Weatherford Rig-804 will now be moved 25km to drill the second well in the basin at Epir. Tullow said results from Kodos have encouraged it to plan further drilling in the Kerio Basin next year regardless of results from Epir.
