Lukoil mulls Africa future after $830m write offs

Lukoil Overseas is considering its future in West Africa after a series of costly exploration wells that have yet to uncover any major discoveries and cost it more than US $830m over the last two years. The company holds deepwater assets of Ghana and Cote d'lvoire but has only made marginal discoveries in either area. "Many of these projects need more studies, but 1 am rather pessimistic. No decisions have been made, but we have not made any big commercial discoveries," Vice President Leonid Fedun told Interfax news agency last week.
