Congo hoping 13 will be lucky in new licensing round

Congo Brazzaville will launch a new 13 block licensing round later this month hoping that a new fiscal regime will attract interest. Of the blocks on offer eight, mostly deepwater, are in the offshore with the other five onshore in the Cuvette Basin. Much of the acreage has only recently been offered but the government is hoping that a new petroleum code, which was finally approved last week, will increase interest. The minister will use a speech on October 28 to say that the round offers greater flexibility in negotiations.
