Modernization of the Slab Caster at SSAB Tunnplat-Installation of Dynaflex Oscillator and Hydrowam

The first phase of a slab caster upgrade at SSAB Tunnplat, Sweden, was completed in July 2000. It comprised machine head modernization and installation of VAI's Dynaflex oscillator on the No. 4 caster, as well as the installation of a hydraulic width-adjustable mold (Hydrowam) on the No. 4 and 5 casters. Benefits of this modernization are higher machine availability, greater flexibility, increased production capacity and improved slab quality.
