摘要

Assessment of genetic diversity of crop plants is considered as an important primary prerequisite for the successful genetic improvement programme. In this study, the genetic diversity among 30 genotypes of American cotton using 26 cotton specific simple sequence repeats (SSR) molecular markers. All accessions were grouped in three major clusters, cluster 1 consisted of sixteen genotypes, cluster 2 contain ten genotypes, and cluster 3 consists of four genotypes respectively. For an individual primer,the alleles amplified varied from two to six with an average of 4.03. PIC values ranged from 0.41 (NAU 2278) through 0.76 (NAU 3401 and CGR 5282). Genotypes LH 2376 and BS 37 were found to be most distant, which may be used as parental lines in heterosis breeding.
