摘要

The Catastrophe Theory is an important mathematical method which aims to application and can be used to explain the discontinuous phenomenon. It has been applied widely in physics, chemistry, biology, ecological formation and other fields. And it has been used increasingly to explain the sudden phenomenon in the field of engineering technology in recent years. In this paper, first of all the basic knowledge of the catastrophe theory was simply introduced. Then the applications of catastrophe theory in the mining engineering, mechanics, water conservancy engineering and other engineering fields were summarized and the concrete instances were given based on references. Finally, it was pointed out that the application of catastrophe theory in the field of engineering technology still has many problems to be solved.
