Vioco steps closer to Gazelle platform

Vioco Petroleum is another step closer to its shallow water Gazelle platform development off Cote d'lvoire and said the project's economics are "robust" even after the fall in the oil price. The President of Cote d'lvoire, Alassane Ouattara, has signed an Exclusive Exploitation Authorisation covering the field in Block CI-202. This follows approval of the field development plan by state oil company PetroCI at the end of October. Vioco is now working towards project sanction in the first half of 2015 with first gas anticipated some 14 to 16 months later. Sanction has been delayed by uncertainty about a new power plant to be constructed by CI-Energies that will be the customer for the gas.
