Volkswagen, remarkable strength, few problems so far, but how long can it go on?

Volkswagen Group, newly crowned as the world's biggest carmaker by market capitalisation, so far has wobbled notably less than its nearest rivals by riding almost unscathed through Germany's intensifying economic storms. A case in point was October, when the Volkswagen Group held its sales slip to a lower than average 5.5 per cent, thus elevating its share for the month to 35 per cent. Its impressive October performance was due in large measure to the strength of the Volkswagen and Audi brands. Both outperformed their faster slipping domestic October market.
