Emphysematous prostatitis associated with emphysematous pyelonephritis and cystitis: A case report

Emphysematous urinary tract infections are commonly encountered in diabetic patients. The few cases of emphysematous prostatitis with abscess formation that have been reported in the literature occurred exclusively in diabetic or immunocompromised patients. Emphysematous prostatitis without abscess formation is very rare, with only one case being previously described in the literature. Emphysematous prostatitis with emphysematous involvement of the upper urinary tract has never been reported in the literature. This case report reflects the importance of early diagnosis of this condition using computed tomography (CT) scan and effective management with parenteral antibiotics.
