Research digest: process and outcome research into psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapy

While the question of whether and how to study outcomes in psychoanalytic psychotherapy continues to be fiercely contested, the number of large-scale research studies of both short- and long-term psychodynamic and psychoanalytic treatments is growing. Although a central aim of mainstream experimental research studies is to investigate the effectiveness of particular treatments, increasingly the data are also being mined for information on a wide range of aspects of the psychotherapy process.
