STEEL DYNAMICS INDUSTRIES TO ENHANCE EFFICIENCY THANKS TO EQUIPMENT UPGRADE

USA’s Steel Dynamics Industries (SDI) expects to enhance efficiency and profitability of some assets thanks to modernizations, implemented in 2018, Metal Expert learnt from a conference call on Q4 2018 results. In Q3 2018, SDI completed upgrade of a 500,000 tpy merchant bar mill at Roanoke Bar plant in Roanoke, Virginia. Within the USD 38 million project, the producer installed the new re-heating furnace, multi-strand slitting and rebar finishing lines. As a result, the company has improved energy efficiency and increased capacity of the mill to 725,000 tpy.
