Elementary proof and application of the generating functions for generalized Hall-Littlewood functions

In this note we define a generalization of Hall-Littlewood symmetric functions using a formal group law and we give an elementary proof of the generating function formula for these generalized functions. We also present some applications of this formula. (C) 2018 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
