Effect of a high nutrient density diet on long-term weight loss: a retrospective chart review.

Editor, Alternative Therapies in Heath and Medicine: I write to disassociate myself from a paper that I co-authored in your journal (Sarter, B, Campbell, T.C. and Fuhrman, J. Effect of a high nutrient density diet on long-term weight loss: a retrospective chart review. (Altern Ther Health Med. 2008;14(3):48-53.) The project director was Dr. Fuhrman while the lead researcher was Dr. Sarter. Because of my long career in experimental research and my several hundred peer-reviewed papers, I was asked by Dr. Fuhrman for a favor, namely, to help him and his colleague publish the findings in a peer-reviewed journal. I agreed to do so because the unusually promising and broad health benefits of a whole-food plant-based diet had not been previously reported for individuals who are counseled in a clinical setting.
