The world’s top oil traders painted a predictably gloomy pic- ture of jet fuel demand at the Oct. 13-15 Energy Intelligence Forum, held online this year because of Covid-19. Trafigura’s CEO Jeremy Weir pointed to the four years it took for airline buying to recover from the Sep. 11, 2001 attacks and the mar- ket’s eight-year struggle after the 2008 Great Recession. Vitol CEO Russell Hardy suggested the East would see a much more rapid recovery than Western markets, with Asian demand for all oil products apart from jet expected to be back to pre-Cov- id-19 levels by November/December this year.
