To provide a method and a system for improving user convenience related to fuel oil purchase by a technique other than coupons.SOLUTION: There is a method for suggesting a fuel oil purchase period by use of a crude oil price database 31 which stores at least dates and daily crude oil price and a processor 10 which is connected to a user terminal 2 via a network. The method causes the processor 10 to acquire a desired date for forecast of a sales price from the user terminal via the network, compare, based on the crude oil prices recorded on the crude oil price database, the sales price of the fuel oil on the desired date with a sales price on a current date to determine which is more inexpensive, and transmits a result of the comparison to the user terminal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
