摘要

North American jet fuel demand sustained a setback in August, with its growth rate slowing to just 1.7% versus the year-earlier pace. That’s less than half the gain of nearly 4% seen in the second quarter. The US accounted for most of the slowdown as two devastating hurricanes crippled airports along the Gulf Coast and sent regional jet needs tumbling by 25%. Overall US liftings rose by 2.7% but were down from a 4% increase in the April-June period. Travel disruptions contributed to the 14% drop in Canadian demand, while Mexican fuel usage picked up momentum with a gain of nearly 10%.
