Global jet fuel demand inched up in July but remained nearly 56% below year- ago rates at some 1.7 million barrels per day as the summer travel season failed to take off. Recovery rates were uneven depending on how much consumption had receded at low-points in April and May. July usage in the US fell 48% below the year-earlier mark since domestic flights account for a large por- tion of fuel uplift. European demand was off by 68% on average with Italy and the UK showing the steepest declines. Grounding of long-haul flights pushed fuel needs in Australia/New Zealand and Canada down by 73%.
