Conveyor belt systems have been the workhorses of the coal handling industry since the late 1700s. Their very function is to transport large quantities of bulk material from one place to another, and they can do an incredible amount of work. Much like domesticated horses, belt conveyor systems are not predisposed to hurt workers, but because they are so powerful, conveyors can, and will, kill or maim workers if not given the proper respect.
