Staff Perspectives on Person-Centered Care in Practice

摘要

This descriptive study explored staff perspectives and experiences following the transition to a person-centered approach to care in an adult and dementia day center. Information about staff perspectives and experiences was gathered using a narrative approach and analyzed via inductive qualitative analysis. Analysis suggests that staff regard the person-centered care approach positively and believes that the approach supports participants' well-being. The transition process was revealed as dynamic and fluid, consisting of 3 distinct stages of evolution. The resulting conceptual framework suggests that the person-centered approach to care replaces the traditional model of care, carried by the momentum of the 3-stage transition process.
