Due to a number of recent technical advances to the die casting process, conventional die castings are being used in ever more demanding applications. However, increasing levels of global competition require that production costs must remain low. Therefore, die casters are continuously seeking new technologies that can be easily installed in their die casting operations, do not disrupt the flow of their die casting process, can improve casting quality and/or reduce manufacturing costs, are easy to use, have low capital costs, and ideally can be easily applied to those castings that require more demanding levels of quality (lower porosity, for example), but bypassed if the process advantages are not required.
